Let $x$ be a fruit juice

    $y$ be a milkshake

this implies that:

$3x + 5y = 78$.............(1)

$x = 2 +y$.....................(2)

expressing equation 1 in terms $y$

$3 ( 2+y) + 5y = 78$

$6 + 3y + 5y = 78$

            $ 8y = 72$

             $y =  R9 $ ( milkshake)

factor in $y$ in equation 2

therefore $x = 2 + 9$

                = R 11 ( fruit juice)

milkshake cost R 9 and fruit juice cost R 11
