his favorite number let it be xy

He then turns the number into a three-digit number by writing a 7 at the end of his favorite number = xy7

xy +385 = xy7

y +5= 7 , x+8= y+10

y= 7 -5 = 2

x + 8 = 2 + 10

x = 12 -8 = 4

his favorite number is 42
