\(\dfrac{x}{2} +\dfrac{x}{3}=5\)

to eliminate the fractional part, multiply all terms by 6 (the lowest common denominator of 2 and 3)

\(6\times \dfrac{x}{2} + 6 \times \dfrac{x}{3}=6 \times 5\)

the result is:

\(3x+2x=30 => 5x=30\)

Dividing both sides by 5 gives:

\( 5x = 30\)

\( \therefore x=6\)
