If $\mathbf{u}$ and $\mathbf{v}$ are vectors in $R^{n}$, then $$ \|\mathbf{u}+\mathbf{v}\|^{2}+\|\mathbf{u}-\mathbf{v}\|^{2}=2\left(\|\mathbf{u}\|^{2}+\|\mathbf{v}\|^{2}\right) $$
