The Box-Cox transformation procedure is applied to identify an appropriate exponent Lambda (l) to use in order to transform the available data into a normal shape. This Lambda value shows the power to which all the data should be raised to achieve normality.

The procedure searches for the best value between Lambda = -5 to Lambda = +5. It stretches out the smaller variance range and shrinks the large variance range, thereby transforming the data to be more normal.
