To round off to the nearest tenth means to shorten the number to only one decimal place. To do this. look at the second digit after the comma. If the digit is 4 or less, just remove all the digits from there to the right end. If the digit is 5 or greater then add 1 to the tenths (1st after comma) digit and then remove all digits to the right.

So in this case  \(\frac{3.96}{0.7} = 5.65714285714\) and the second digit after the comma is 5 which is equal to 5 so we add 1 to the tenths digit (6) and the result becomes

\(\frac{3.96}{0.7} = 5.7\) to 1 decomal place.
