Additives and preservatives are not all bad

Safe additives and preservative improve the quality, appearance, consistency and taste of the product, and they aren’t bad if added to the food product at a level that’s approved by internationally recognized agencies. Over and above that, some of the additives are natural such as spices, vinegar, salt and vitamin C! Without food additives, our food supply will be limited. Reliable food companies abide by the approved levels of additives and preservatives that are added in their manufactured food products.

Very rarely, a person may have a food intolerance to a certain additive such as a sensitivity to sulfites or Yellow No 5 colouring additive, and then it’s advisable that he/she avoids eating a food product containing that additive.
