The Blue crane is the national bird of our country mainly because it is facing extinction and the government is interested in conserving it. The addition of the bird to the national symbols is to make people realise that they need to protect. The Galjoen fish is found in abundance in the coastal regions of our country and it is a symbol that represents marine life. The springbok is only found on the south west and southern part of Africa making them to be unique and that is why it is used as a national symbol to appreciate that we have something not found elsewhere in the world.
