Increasing the temperature of matter causes the molecules and atoms in matter to vibrate faster. The increase in speed of vibration of these particles of matter results in increasing the space between atoms. Consequently, the state of the matter (solids, liquids and gases) is dictated by this vibration / movement and spacing of the particles.
