Distance- This is the actual path traveled by an object from its initial path to the final position.

Displacement- This is change in the position of an object.

Distance is a scalar quantity that implies that the direction with which the object is moving is independent. while Displacement is a vector quantity and the direction is with which the object moves is taken into account.

Distance travelled takes into consideration the overall path travelled, whilst Displacement will cosider the total path travelled and geographic location of the object.
