Let the number be represented by $x$

"Double the number" means we have $2x$

"Add $32$ , the result is $80$"

$ \implies 2x +32=80$  (1)

Solving for $x$ in (1):

$ 2x +32=80$

$2x = 80-32$

$2x = 48$

$x= 24$
