Art and design are not mutually exclusive to mathematics. An understanding of mathematics topics like trigonometry, geometry, fractals..e.t.c can greatly enhance your creative exploits. Leonardo Da Vinci  is an example of an artist who used mathematics to improve his design and art. He used phi (the golden ration when he painted The Monalisa and the Vitruvian Man)
