NOTATION: The inverse function of $f$ is usually written as $f^{-1}$. Remember that $f^{-1}$ undoes the effects of $f$. This is one way to check that the inverse function is correct.
So
\begin{aligned} &f\left(f^{-1}(x)\right)=x \\ &f\left(f^{-1}(x)\right)=x \end{aligned}

REMINDER: To find $f^{-1}$ do the following
1. Swop $x$ and $y$.
2. Make $y$ the subject and then $y=f^{-1}(x)$.
