What things/people/roles have contributed most to your success?

My mom, her strength & resilience and faithful prayers for me.

If you knew all that you now know, what would you tell your 18 year old self?

You are enough and everything you need to succeed is already inside of you.

When things get tough, how do you keep yourself going?

Music and worship helps, prayer helps a lot and being still as well.

What leadership qualities do you most admire?

Authenticity, vulnerability, compassion and emotional intelligence.

Victimhood, does that stance serve women’s causes? Women are still exploited, so what would you tell them?

No one will hand power to you, own your own power, don’t underestimate your worth and strategically own your space and take what’s yours by force but calmly and diplomatically.

Do you mentor any girls as part of your personal and/or corporate responsibility?

I mentor quite a few girls.

What are some of the leadership challenges/obstacles that are unique to women?

Self doubt, patriarchy and family obligations

Why did you choose your career?

I think it chose me.

Are the lives of famous women leaders a lot easier than those of the average women today?

Women in general don’t have easy lives, especially Black women. It’s like the whole world is extremely intimidated by their strength and resilience

Gender quotas on boards are a contentious issue, what do you think about it?

Our continent will never reach its full potential as long as women are marginalized. We are shooting ourselves in the foot.

Any additional message to inspire young girls to succeed?

The future is female… be fearless, courageous and do it afraid. Silence the accuser daily and all negative voices.
